Choosing the right Location

This awesome family of five (including Gypsy their dog), choose Palm Beach for their session.

This location is so meaningful to them and is somewhere they love to hang out together as a family most mornings.

With its stunning golden sands, their electric bikes (Ocean side Bikes), skate and surf boards, sparkling blue waters, and breathtaking scenery this was a true reflection of how they spend their days.

Are you a beach kinda family, have kids that drag you to the skate park every Sunday or banana pancakes and back yard hangs at home more your vibe?

CAPTURING CANDID INTERACTIONS AND PLAYFULNESS

Many of you dread the idea of getting in front of the camera, freak out that your photographer will entice you to wear one of their client wardrobe pieces and in fact some of you cringe at the idea so much you would much rather head to the dentist for an hour.

I so get it and, fun fact, I’m told every time (mostly by the dads) that they didn’t realise how relaxed and fun it would actually be.

So, to me, ensuring you all feel at ease to capture those genuine and authentic moments I highly encourage you to choose locations and places that feel fun and aligned for you as a family .

I love incorporating activities you love to do together as a family, from baking biscuits or skating the back ally lanes of your local neighbourhood, to having a picnic dinner at the beach.

One my core business and life values is less posing more playing and this family most definitely had such a great time together.

Make it personal

To make the session truly personalised, I brought along my underwater Aqua-Tech housing. It allowed the family to finish in their happy place - the ocean.

I love incorporating unique personal touches into my family shoots, aligning with that core value of my business: "moments over poses."

Sarah and Ryan brought along their swimsuits, boards, and fun vibes, adding a vibrant and natural element to the images.

Additionally, as it happened to be their 8-year wedding anniversary, I made sure to sneak in some solo shots of Mum and Dad too, this is a must where I can on my family shoots.

Seizing the magical morning light

Timing is key in capturing the perfect lighting for outdoor photography, and this family made the most of waking up early. Sarah ensured she was packed and organised the night before, plus had that delicious coffee in sight at their local surf club post swims.

The autumn and winter sunrises are my fave time to shoot, firstly the sun comes up that little bit later and the light is oh so soft and the beaches are quieter too.

But rest assure if your fam bam are not early rises a sunset session is just as stunning at this time of the year and they have there own magical energy to them.

As a photographer I am here for the connection, love and moments over poses and truly ensuring you have the best time together. This session definitely allowed for spontaneous moments to unfold naturally.

The morning Family Session at Palm Beach, Gold Coast was nothing short of magical.

I know when I wrap up a session often the parents are thinking, did she even capture anything we’ll like at all. And you betta i did!

It only takes a second amongst the chaos and mess to snap that glance, hand touch and sneaky kisses.
