MY JOURNEY INTO DAILY MEDITATION!
Today I took some time to sit back and reflect on some seeds I planted last year as a truth seeking, yoga loving, soul searching, health junkie. One of the seeds I planted was wanting to learn to meditate for more than 5 minutes a day and boy am I grateful I planted that seed. What a huge difference it has made to me, my practice and this journey I am on. I was searching internally for a long time to be able to have a regular mediation practice, my heart and soul were yearning for it. I live such a busy life as most of us do and sitting down to meditate was not at the top of my daily list, yes yoga and working out were, but slowing down and sitting with myself for longer than 5 minutes didn’t really happen that often. I was yearning to find a teacher and a practice that I could take anywhere with me and I that I truly connected with. After asking some dear friends and doing a few shout outs on Facebook I connected with Carolyne Gowen from “Still your Mind Meditation“. Carolyne teaches a meditation called Primordial Sound Meditation which I was instantly drawn to. After browsing her website and a touching base with her, I had booked myself in for the next 4 week course and walked through her doors a few weeks later ready to embark on my meditation journey.
Upon walking in the door, Carolyne made me feel so welcome it was like I had known her for years. She is warm and compassionate which instantly made me feel safe and at home, I knew at that moment that I was in the flow and in the right place as it was meant to be. The course complies of 4 sessions over 3 weeks with one of these sessions being a 1 on 1 with Carolyne where you receive your own personal sound mantra. The sessions are laid out each week so that you build upon the last weeks component allowing you to go deeper into the benefits of mediation over the 4 weeks. She definitely does not throw you straight into the boiling water. The first session we talked about the benefits of mediation and why we all wanted to learn the a art of meditation, finishing with a group meditation and some guidance to go off and mediate on your own for a week, twice a day for 20 minutes. After the first session, I was hooked, I set my alarm 20 minutes early the next day and then began on my self journey into a regular meditation practice. The next session was a 1 on 1 with Carolyne where I had a small ceremony for me to receive my own personal sound mantra followed by a 20 minute meditation to ensure the mantra sits nicely with you. I felt instantly connected with my mantra and dropped into a beautiful 20 minute mediation very comfortably. The process of receiving my own mantra was a very powerful experience and one I will never forget. The next 2 sessions are again small group sessions where we went over the deeper layers into consciousness, what the chakras are how to clear them, we also went over self affirmations and the power of them, and we of course went deeper into the benefits and effects mediation can have on your daily life. Carolyne shares her knowledge straight from heart sharing her own joinery and experiences into mediation and it is through her authenticity that you connect to her and the beautiful message and teachings she offers. She has such a beautiful presence and makes the journey into daily mediation effortless.
So what is Primordial Sound Meditation?
Primordial sound meditation is a technique originating in the ancient wisdom of India. Primordial sounds – the basic, most essential sounds of nature – are used to disconnect us from the activity of life. These individually selected sounds, known as mantras, are based on the vibration of the universe at the time that you were born. Once your primordial sound mantra has been determined, you will learn how to use it on a daily basis to still your mind, reawaken balance, tranquillity and compassion within.

One of the reasons I love to meditate daily now, is the importance of giving myself some me time, to sit with myself and my mantra out in nature and connect back to my centre and to my truth. I love how it brings me back to the present moment and how peaceful and at ease I feel sitting with myself. Meditation gives me a true sense of my true self, it calms down my thoughts and allows me to see and be in situations with more spaciousness, more openness and more willingness, I love how FEAR moves over in meditation and that is just me sitting with me.
